The number of people displaced by climate change is an urgent global challenge that requires immediate attention and effective solutions from the international community.

Since 2021, we have planted 2 million trees in the Kigoma region of Tanzania. This benefits both the climate in the area and the thousands of refugees living there.

Rachel Niyomuhoza and Emily Nzoisenga live in the Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania. Here they produce bio-briquettes for the benefit of both refugees and the climate. Meet them here:

At Danish Refugee Council, we work to give refugees access to alternative and more sustainable energy sources. Bio-briquettes are one of them!

In the Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania, we distribute tools and seeds so refugees can establish their own kitchen gardens near their homes.

In the western part of Tanzania, we have established 17 small plant nurseries. Here we give women and men the tools and methods to plant more sustainably. This initiative contributes to restoring destroyed ecosystems in the area.
