How we work

Children on the move

A large proportion of the world's refugees are children. Some are fleeing with their parents, others are unaccompanied and on their own. Danish Refugee Council is there to help refugee children all over the world.

Children on the move are in particular need of protection and help

Children fleeing war and disaster are particularly vulnerable. Unfortunately, they do not experience what many of us would associate with a normal childhood.

Some are on the move with their parents. Others are all alone. But what they all have in common is the need for security. They need protection, shelter, water, food, and medicine.

Their development also often stalls, and many are left with severe scars on both body and soul. Many children and young people on the move also have specific problems that make them even more vulnerable.

This makes it all the more important that we work together to help children and young people who are fleeing their homes, whether they have fled to a foreign country or are displaced in their own. On these pages you can read more about how you can help children on the move:
